The following schedule has been announced for today’s activities
during the Zippo/Case International Swap Meet and downtown
Bradford’s Summerfest.
The sale tent on the grounds of the Zippo/Case Visitors Center
will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Visitors Center, from 8
a.m. to 6 p.m. The Swap Meet will be open to the public from 8:30
a.m. to 4 p.m.
Registration for the Motorcycle Dice Run will be held from 8:30
to 11:45 a.m. The run will start at noon.
From 9 to 10 a.m., Robin and Dana Baumgartner will be on hand to
sign copies of their book, “Wahrman’s Field Guide to Zippo
Lighters.” Just after, from 10 to 11 a.m., there will be a book
signing for Brad Lockwood’s “Case Cutlery Dynasty Tested XX.”
Tom Wolfe will give a woodcarving demonstration/clinic from 10
to 11 a.m., and from 2 to 3 p.m.
Tony Foster will do knife appraisals from 11 a.m. to noon.
Italian airbrush artist Claudio Mazzi will be at the Swap Meet
for signing of the manual written about his work.
The funny hat contest -ðnew at this year’s bi-annual event
-ðwill be held at 1 p.m. From 1 to 2 p.m., there will be a knife
cutting competition, also new this year.
Swap Meet go-ers can have their picture taken with the Zippo Car
from 1 to 4 p.m.
And, from 1 to 2 p.m., the Zippo/Case Professional Walleye
Fishing Team will be handing out autographs.
On Sunday, the Visitor’s Center will be open for last minute
shopping.
Summerfest gets started today with Farmer’s Market from 8 a.m.
to noon on Veterans Square at the head of Main Street, including
Art in the Park.
From 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., craft vendors will be selling their
wares on Congress Street. The BCPAC Fine Arts Show will be held
again at 57 Main St. from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Also from 10 a.m. to 8
p.m., a food court will be held on Chambers Street.
Kiddie Land will open for children from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on
Chestnut Street. Starting at 11 a.m., there will be an Action Art
display on Veterans Square.
A parade kicks off at noon, including motorcycles from the dice
run, Kids and Cancer, Shriners and Zem Zems, the All-terrain
Vehicles Club, the Outhouse March and the Parade of Beds. The Bed
Race will take place in Main Street at 1:30 p.m.
At 2 p.m., the American Red Cross will have a Duck Race,
starting at the West Branch of the Tunungwant Creek at the
University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Campus, and ending at the
Barbour Street Bridge.
The Summerfest Queen Contest will be held at 2:30 p.m., and at 3
p.m., residents can enjoy the musical entertainment of Battle of
the Bands.
