CARE(FREE) BEAR: We all know that bears love a good picnic. But
who knew they were such party animals?[neWLine]
Denise Drummond sends us proof that at least one bear took the
idea of a family outing a bit too literally:[neWLine]
“”Last week, my sister Marilyn and I were at Allegany State Park
picnicking with our kids when a black bear walked right over to our
table and climbed up and helped itself to our leftovers. The bear
was so very cute but a little too bold for our liking, so we all
walked up the stairs and stood on the platform of the nearby
playground sliding board.[neWLine]
“”It was quite entertaining,”” she writes, “”and we watched for
a long time as he devoured our chips, yogurt and anything else he
could find. After we got a little tired, and it started raining, we
tried to shoo him away so we could get our things and
go.[neWLine]
“”This did not work, so we all headed to the van.[neWLine]
“”As we were watching him from our van, didn’t he leave the
picnic table, walk over to the playground, climb up the stairs and
slide down the sliding board![neWLine]
“”This is not a quality pic as it’s blown way up, but it is
proof!””[neWLine]

TEEN TIME: Feedback continues on the old WESB teen radio
show.[neWLine]
Grace B. Park drops us an e-mail noting that she and John
Dicello reported the news for St. Bernard High. School: “”I
eventually had to leave, though, and I can’t remember who took my
place.””[neWLine]
Bill Robertson of Duke Center had this to add: “”No one has
mentioned all the great music that was heard on the WESB ‘Teen
Time’ program. When I was a teen-ager in the late ’60s, I used to
record songs off the show with my Sears reel-to-reel tape
player.””[neWLine]
“”Some of my favorite tunes then were ‘Did You See Her Eyes,’ by
the Illusion, ‘Hot Smoke & Sassafras’ by Bubble Puppy, ‘I Had
Too Much to Dream,’ by the Electric Prunes, and a lot of hits by
Steppenwolf, Deep Purple, and Three Dog Night. Ken Marshall was the
DJ then, and he played some smokin’ hard rock!””
