Helen Marberry will take over the warden duties at the Federal
Correctional Institution- McKean on July 23, marking the first
female warden at the prison.
The announcement was made by the prison on Monday.
Marberry is a native of St. Louis and replaces James Sherman,
who transferred as senior deputy director for the Northeast
Regional Office in Philadelphia, in June.
She was employed in corrections in St. Louis City, St. Louis
County and for the State of Missouri, before she joined the Federal
Bureau of Prisons in December 1991.
Since then, Marberry has held various positions, including as a
special agent with the Office of Internal Affairs, associate warden
in Oxford, Wis., and at the U.S. Penitentiary in Leavenworth,
Kansas, prior to being selected as the first female warden at
FCI-Milan, Mich.
Marberry sees herself as one of the many leaders in correctional
management who will incorporate fairness, consistency and structure
into the culture of FCI-McKean.
