RTS for Thursday

OX YOKE: Our guess at the identity of a motel on Route 6 in
Galeton, Potter County, apparently was correct.

Debbie Henderson Dawidowicz writes, “I am an avid reader of The
Bradford Era online as I grew up in Hazel Hurst, and was reading
RTS today. Yes, the rustic cabins are the Ox Yoke which is still
there, and a stopover for me on our way from Connecticut to home,
almost every trip.”

“I have lived in Connecticut for 36 years now, and make the Ox
Yoke a stop almost each and every time. Great food, and great
service. The cabins are so quaint, and are along the stream there
where it’s very beautiful anytime of the year.

“I have to say that I always take Route 6 across Pennsylvania
every time I come home, and there are many little quaint cabins
along the way on that route, from the bygone era, that are still
for rent today. It’s great!”

TEEN TIME: Lynda Lore of Ridgway writes, “Yes, I do remember
Teen Time on the radio. I was in a public speaking class at BAHS
and asked to read the school news on the radio. Along with school
news, they would play the songs that were popular at that time. Mr.
Olson was my teacher for the public speaking class.”

Bob Tingley of Bradford writes, “In answer to my sister’s (Terry
Williams) question about a teen program on WESB in the ’60s – the
program was Hi-Fi Teen Time featuring students from Bradford High
and St. Bernard High School. I don’t remember what it took to be
eligible to participate. The classmate she refers to is Dave Winn,
son of WESB personality Bill Winn.”

Barbara Saddler writes, ” ‘Hi Fi Teen Time,’ I think was the
name of the show on WESB for teens. Also my father, Dr. Thomas J
Saddler Sr., did a show on Sunday morning called ‘Strength For
Today’ for WESB.”

Bill Higie writes, “There was a Junior High radio activity we
did in our 9th grade English classes. Mr. George Caylor and Mrs.
Johnston coordinated the activity where a pair of students would go
on the radio once a week and tell the public what was happening at
the School Street Junior High School. I remember doing the spot
with Karen Colligan during the 1968-69 school year.”

Much more on this subject soon.
