Lady Owls rout OV, 17-2

SHINGLEHOUSE – Shelly Fuhrman fired a two-hitter to give
Bradford a 17-2 three-inning win over Oswayo Valley in high school
softball Thursday.

Fuhrman fanned four and walked one.

Leading the Lady Owls (11-7), Fuhrman and Nicole Keane had two
RBIs each while Sabina Vecellio went 2-for-3.

“We have played a lot of tough games lately and I thought we
were a bit lethargic to start this game,” Sue Aljoe, BHS coach,
admitted. “In the second inning and especially the third, we became
more patient at the plate.

“The girls’ discipline paid off and we were able to get a lot of
runners in scoring position. Sabina Vecellio, Katie Behan, Nicole
Keane, Shelly Fuhrman and Lyndsay Nuyen had key kits in our
rallies.”

Randi Pearsall was tagged with the mound loss. She gave up seven
hits and walked 14.

“OV played very solid until their pitchers ran into some control
problems in the third,” offered Aljoe. “I think their defense had
the opportunities. They made the plays.”

Brittany Kellogg doubled for OV.

“This is the type of game that you’re glad to get in and
grateful to win but surely hope you don’t have to play again,”
Aljoe said. “The weather deteriorated as the game progressed and it
was difficult for either team to do its best.”

The Lady Owls host Port Allegany on Monday.
