Owls win 56th straight dual meet, sixth consecutive undefeated season

Bradford defeated Clearfield for their 56th straight dual meet
win and their sixth consecutive undefeated season.

The Owls (10-0) won all the events in cruising to a 142-8
victory over the Bisons.

The 4×100 relay team broke the school record for the fourth time
this season. Alex Ita, Shane Hvizdzak, Ben Walter and Vanere
Maynard ran 43.8, breaking the old record by .6 seconds.ð

Shane Hvizdzak and Andy Preston were triple winners. Preston won
the 110 high hurdles in 16.0, the 300 intermediate hurdles in a
39.6 and also ran a good leg in the 4×400 relay with Hvizdzak, Josh
Holleran and Ita. The 39.6 is No. 2 all-time. Preston is only the
second boy to ever crack the 40-second mark for the intermediate
hurdles. Only Shawn Colligans 37.84 is better.

Hvizdzak ran on both of those relays and took first in the 200
(23.1). He was second in the 100 (11.3). Sophomore Vanere Maynard
won the 100 in 11.1.

Maynard anchored the 4×100 relay and also took second in the 200
(23.2). Ita was a double winner being a member of both relays.

Steve Kirkland won the 1600 and 3200. Rich Bartlebaugh had two
firsts, the high jump at 6 and a leg in the 4×800 relay. He teamed
up with Shroy Mukerjee, Anthony Cavallaro and Mike Foerstner in the
4×800 relay.

Mukerjee won the 800 (1:59.3.), the Owls fifth best time ever.
Colton Langianese made the top 10 in the 800 with a 2:00.6
clocking.

Holleran, Preston, Hvizdzak and Ita won the 4×400 relay
(3:31).

Rob Bleem had another strong day in the throws taking the
javelin (1799) and shot put (481). He finished second in the discus
(13811).

Sophomore Dan Gonzalez won the discus in a best ever throw of
1395.

Garrett McEwen had two second places, throwing 4410 in the shot
put and 1748 in the javelin. David Rivera won the long jump (2011)
and triple jump (431). His long jump put him in eighth place
all-time.

Ben Lanich had a season best in the discus (1221). Matt Teribery
led a Bradford sweep in the pole vault (126). Shane Speaker and Dan
McMurtie tied for second, each going 116.

Freshman Tyree Bennett had three personal bests. He ran the high
hurdles in 17.6, the 300 hurdles in 45.3 and also went 363 in the
triple jump. Vince Pascarella had a personal best in the shot. Ryan
Miller had his best time in the high hurdles, 16.9.ð

Alex Goodman won the 400 and had a personal best in the javelin
(1397). Freshman Andy Skaggs also had his best time in the 400
meters, 56.5. Tyler Hopkins had a second in the triple jump.
Another freshman, John Karrasch ran 11:59 in his first 3200 meters.
Zach Frombach had personal bests in the 300 hurdles and triple
jump.

The Owls have seven boys who have scored over 200 points this
year Bleem 243, Hvizdzak 244, Ita 218, Kirkland 207, Bartlebaugh
207.5, Mukerjee 215 and Preston 204.

It was a great day to have a track meet and our guys didnt waste
it, BAHS coach Tom Tessena said. We now have to get ready for
districts next week. The coaches have quite a few decisions to make
on who we put where. Everyone needs to dig down deep next week.
