Bradford scored 12 runs in the first two innings, survived a
Kane rally in the third and went on to a 20-6 victory over the
Wolves in high school baseball action on Wednesday.
The Owls needed only five innings to collect their 6th win of
the season.
Nick Foster went the distance on the mound to get the win for
Bradford. He scattered five hits, struck out six batters and issued
just three walks.
Nick was solid on the mound, said Tim Burris, Bradford
coach.
The Owls errupted for six runs in the first inning and six in
the second to take a huge early lead.
Bradford finished with 14 hits off four Kane hurlers. Starter
John Bizzak took the loss.
Leading the Owls at the plate were Matt Willard (2-for-2) with a
two-run triple in the first inning, three RBIs total and two runs
scored.
Garett Brown belted a triple and scored two runs, Garrett
DeCasper (2-for-2) doubled, had four RBIs and scored two runs, Cory
Viola rapped a two-run single, Mike Pascarella (2-for-3) drove in
three runs and scored two runs, and Foster went 3-for-4 with three
RBIs.
We were swinging the bat well tonight throughout the lineup,
Burris observed. Overall, defensively we played well.
Kane came at us with five runs in the third to close the gap to
12-6, but fortunately we came back with four runs in each of the
last two innings.
Zack Anderson had the Wolves lone extra-base hit, a triple.
Bradford, now 6-10, will travel to Ridgway today.
