Coudy edges Lady Owls, 4-3

COUDERSPORT – Karli Duffee threw a four-hitter to lead
Coudersport (8-1) to a 4-3 win over Bradford (5-3) in high school
softball Monday.

“Coudersport deserved to win this game,” said BHS coach Sue
Aljoe. “We were two evenly matched teams and they just played
better when it counted.”

Duffee fanned four and allowed four free passes.

“I was proud of Karli and how she kept the Bradford girls off
their feet all night,” praised Coudy coach Scott Andrews.

On the hill for Bradford was Shelly Fuhrman who scattered nine
hits, whiffed one and walked none.

“Both pitchers threw well,” noted Andrews.

Offensively for the Lady Falcons, Kelly McVay had an RBI double,
Duffee went 3-for-4 with a double and Tiffany Kinder went 2-for-3
with an RBI single.

“Coudersport is a good team and they are having a nice season,”
Aljoe admitted. “This was a nice win for them.”

For the Lady Owls, Hope Ruffner tripled, Lindsay Nuyen went
2-for-4 with one RBI and Katie Behan and Fuhrman singled.

“We play well for a time and then we have these mental lapses
that really hurt us,” Aljoe stated. “We need need to play with more
intensity.”

The Lady Falcons are at Port Allegany today, while Bradford
hosts Austin today.
