A three-run fifth inning supported Ryan LaBrozzi’s two-hit
pitching to lead Bradford to a 5-3 victory over visiting Elk County
Catholic in high school baseball action on Friday.
Mike Pascarella ignited the big frame with an RBI single.
LaBrozzi went the distance on the mound, fanning five batters
while allowing just the two hits, one of them good for extra bases.
He issued five walks and helped himself at the plate going 3-for-4
and scoring two runs.
The Owls also got an RBI single from Alex Faucher in the third
inning and a run-scoring single from Matt Hursh in the sixth to
account for all of the host’s scoring.
“It was good getting back in the win column,” said Tim Burris,
Owls head coach.
The mound loss was pinned on Crusaders’ starter Nick Brennan who
got relief help from Andy Herbstritt. The duo surrendered seven
hits, while notching four strikeouts and giving up one walk.
Elk’s leadoff batter Jesse Bosnik started the game with a triple
and finished the contest 2-for-3 at the plate with two runs
scored.
Bradford, now 2-5, will host Punxsutawney on Monday.
