Lady Owls top DuBois, 87-63

DUBOIS – The Bradford Lady Owls overcame deteriorating weather
conditions to pull out an 87-63 win over DuBois in a high school
track and field meet Tuesday.

Erin Hannon quadrupled and Katie White and Chloe Nickel tripled
as the Lady Owls improved to 2-0.

Hannon won the high jump, long jump, triple jump and 100
hurdles. White won the 800 run and was on the winning 1600 and 3200
relays. Nickle won the 300 hurdles and was on the 1600 and 400
relays.

Lindsay Sherman (400 dash, 400 relay) and Tricia Copeland (100,
400 relay) doubled. In addition, Copeland was second in the triple
jump.

“We had some kids nicked up,” BAHS coach Larry Stillman pointed
out. “DuBois is a well-coached team. We expected it to be a close
meet. DuBois was ready. They gave a good accounting of
themselves.

“The weather conditions were tough. It wasn’t bad when the meet
started, but conditions deteriorated as the meet wore on, which
hurt times and distances.”

Overall, Stillman was pleased.

“We had a team effort,” he noted. “The sprinters looked good for
the conditions. Tricia had a nice 100 and Lindsay had a very good
400 considering the wind.

“Erin looked good in the hurdles and high jump. Erica Pascarella
high jumped well (3rd place) and won the 3200 run.

“Chloe Nickel and Katie White had very good days. They were in
three difficult events and had three firsts.

“Bobbi Hopkins had a good day for a freshman. She was second in
the 300 hurdles, third in the 100 hurdles and on the first place
1600 relay team.

“Our throwers did a good job. Katie Vecellio took second in the
javelin and third in the shot put. Katlyn Nelson took second in the
discus and Whitney Cline broke 90 feet for third place in the
javelin.”

Stillman also praised Renee Cavallaro who placed second in the
1600 run (5:56).

Pole vaulters Caitlin Persichini (2nd place) and Bri Rychcik
(3rd place) both cleared seven feet in the pole vault.

“That was very helpful,” Stillman added.
