Futures Rehabilitation Center has put the property and building
it owns at 68 Chestnut St. up for sale.
Colligan Real Estate has been contracted to handle the sale.
Previously, Futures operated an employment training program in
the building. The program will continue at a new location – the One
Futures Way facility – in the near future, officials said
Friday.
Other tenants located in the building are the Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation drivers license center, The Print Shop
and Curves.
Those tenants are not expected to be affected by the sale,
according to Futures president/chief executive officer Bill
Leven.
Leven explained that Futures plans to consolidate its employment
training programs in an effort to improve quality of service and
reduce costs.
“We have been able to acquire additional property and we are
developing space to consolidate our programs at Futures Way,” he
said. “We are looking to improve our programs and operate more
efficiently in one location.”
The 68 Chestnut St. property, located across the street from the
Best Western Inn, includes a 25,000-square foot, two-story brick
and steel building, with a parking lot and access to Congress
Street.
Bim Colligan of Colligan Real Estate said recently the asking
price for the building on Chestnut Street is $225,000.
Colligan went on to say the building, which was built in the
1930s or 1940s, covers 30,000-square and has central heat. There
are 24,000-square feet of parking space, and the building sits on a
1.5-acre lot.
