McKean Motor Sports signs 1-year contract

SMETHPORT (EC) – There will be Saturday night stock car racing
at the McKean County Raceway this season.

McKean Motor Sports, a three-man group headed by Ken Leet,
promoter, signed a one-year contract Monday with the executive
board of the McKean County Fair Association.

Rod Biehler and Tom Gleason are co-racing directors.

Leet said, “There are 16 racing dates scheduled. We plan to open
April 22 with a practice night and Enduro.”

The schedules for this season will be available this weekend at
the Olean (N.Y.) Mall stock car show.

According to Leet, the weekly cards will feature the mini stock,
street stock, sportsman, super stock classes and selective shows by
the late models.

Tentatively scheduled are four shows by the United Late Model
Series, a group led by Jeff Zuver, a former Smethport area
resident, who is promoter and racing director.

Leet added he anticipates the return of the Patriot Sprints,
under the direction of Tom Taber, for two shows. Taber, a former
stock car driver at the East Smethport oval, has also competed in
sprints at the track.
