Lady Panthers eliminated

ERIE – Penn State Behrend eliminated Pitt-Bradford from the AMCC
women’s basketball playoffs 55-53 Tuesday night.

Behrend trailed 30-26 at intermission, but outscored UPB 29-23
in the final 20 minutes to advance to Friday’s semifinals.

Leading the Lady Panthers (12-14) were Amanda Williams (16
points) and Megan Richards (11).

“We played a great game,” UPB coach Daly Fuller said. “We
executed our game plan perfectly. We shot 51 percent from the floor
and we outrebounded them. It came down to turnovers and foul shots.
They won the game on the foul line.”

The Lady Panthers had a chance to tie the game in the closing
seconds, but the shot didn’t fall.

“I’m proud of the team,” Fuller concluded. “They worked
hard.”

Pacing Behrend (17-9) were Rachel Slomski (16 points) and Julia
Andrus (13).
