COUDERSPORT – Danielle Furman became a member of the elite
1,000-point club Tuesday night, scoring 24 points to help Coudy
defeat Cameron County 52-21 in North Tier League girls hoops.
The senior guard now has 1,003 career points.
“She is a great kid and is certainly deserving of the award,”
declared Brian Green, Coudy coach. “She puts a lot of time into the
game and she is a great pleasure to coach. This is a great
accomplishment for her.”
Furman needed 21 points to reach the milestone. She scored 17
points in the first half and canned a trifecta in the third to
eclipse 1,000 points.
“The last two games her shooting has been fantastic,” Green
praised. “She shot 52 percent against Oswayo Valley and tonight 56
percent – 5-for-9 from three-point range.
“Normally in this situation, girls come in tight and force some
things but she didn’t tonight,” Green continued. “We ran a couple
of sets early to get her a couple of looks and she hit both. That
gave her five off the bat and she had 17 at halftime.”
Also for the Lady Falcons, Kristy Kamper collected nine
rebounds, six points and five assists.
Coudy (18-1, 11-0) hosts Bradford High today.
“I’m anticipating a very good game,” Green stated. “I’ve seen
Bradford play twice and they’ve got some great ball players.
“Siffrinn (Nikki) is great at the point, Cline (Whitney) is
great inside and they’ve got some good shooters like Fuhrman
(Shelly). They’re going to pressure us and it’s going to be a nice
tune-up for us going into the playoffs.”
