CORRY – The second half was the turning point Wednesday night as
Bradford High defeated Corry 63-54 in a non-league boys basketball
game.
The Owls (12-8) outscored Corry 25-14 in the third quarter en
route to their second straight win, both on the road.
“In the second half we really played well,” BAHS coach Dave
Fuhrman noted. “We moved the ball well and shot well (27-for-54, 50
percent). I thought we shared the ball well in the second half. We
screened well, we got good shots and made them.”
The teams were deadlocked 10-10 after eight minutes. The Owls
held a three-point lead at the half, 26-23.
“Many games are won or lost depending on how you come out in the
second half,” Fuhrman admitted. “We took control of the game in the
third quarter. I liked how the guys played in the third
quarter.”
Bradford put four players in double figures – Tommy Morris (17
points), Shane Hvizdzak (12), Eric Arnett (12) and Ben Lanich
(10).
“We had good, balanced scoring,” Fuhrman said. “The theme going
into the game was we had a good come-from-behind win last night
(Tuesday versus St. Marys).
“We wanted to build on that. We wanted to get another one here
tonight. Corry has been struggling. They had some shooters. They
shot the ball pretty well themselves (44 percent). They played us
tough.”
Statistically, Lanich had 10 boards, Hvizdzak six assists and
Morris four assists.
In addition, the Owls forced 18 turnovers.
“It was a good road win,” Fuhrman declared. “We are trying to
string some wins together as we wind down the regular season.”
The Owls host Clearfield on Friday in a Senior Night District 9
League contest.
“We should have a good crowd,” Fuhrman concluded. “Hopefully, we
can play well against Clearfield in a league game.”
Leading Corry (5-14) was Ryan Marti with 22 tallies.
