KANE -ðSeveral family pets died, and there was $150,000 in
damage, as a result of a house fire at 1458 Looker Mountain Trail
in Otto Township Thursday afternoon.
According to a Kane-based state police fire marshal, fire broke
out at the two-story, single-family home at 12:40 p.m. The
investigation into the cause and origin of the fire is ongoing.
Damages incurred as a result of the fire included extensive
fire, smoke and water damage, reports indicate, estimated at
$150,000. The house is owned by Frank Barton, 63, of Rixford.
About half the house was lost, according to a representative
with the Otto Township Volunteer Fire Department.
None of the occupants, Bruce Stone, 35, Tracy Stone, 39, a
16-year-old male, a 14-year-old female, an 8-year-old male and a
7-year-old male, were injured. No one was home at the time of the
fire, reports indicate.
Three dogs, two ferrets and two cats died in the fire; three
puppies of a litter of 12 survived.
Otto Township was assisted at the scene by fire crews from
Eldred Borough, Eldred Township and Rew. Star Hose Co. of Port
Allegany was on stand-by. Firefighters were on scene until about
7:30 p.m.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
