The Bradford High Lady Owls improved their swim record to 3-2
with a 109-61 win over St. Marys on Thursday at the Bradford
YMCA.
Ellie Imhof (400 free relay, 100 fly, 200 IM) tripled for
Bradford, while Erica Pascarella (400 free relay, 500 free) and
Libby Cavagnaro (200 free, 400 free relay) doubled.
“The girls had another solid performance,” BAHS coach Pam Digel
noted. “We knew St. Marys had some strong swimmers especially in
the sprint events so we were very careful with our lineup. The
girls knew they had to swim up to their abilities and they did just
that and came away with a victory.”
It was the Lady Owls’ fourth meet in one week.
“They are swimming tired, but had solid performances,” Digel
said.
In the boys’ meet, the Owls (1-3-1) and Dutch swam to a 79-79
draw.
Alex Goodman quadrupled, winning the 50 free and 100 free and
swimming on the winning 200 free relay and 400 free relay. Dan
Gonzalez (100 fly, 200 free relay, 400 free relay) and Ben Daggett
(200 free, 100 back, 400 free relay) tripled.
“We knew we were going into this with our eight swimmers versus
their 11,” Digel emphasized. “The odds were stacked against us as
far as numbers but the boys just swam with an unbelievable amount
of heart.
“We had some fantastic performances from Vince Pascarella (500
free), Matt Schwab (500 free), Josh Lightner (200 IM), Matt
Anderson (200 IM), Dan Gonzalez (50 free, relays) and Steve
Cavagnaro (200 free).
“Ben Daggett and Alex Goodman basically gave us the finishes
that we needed. We know it was a tie but to us it was a real moral
victory. Even though they had more numbers we outswam them in our
races. So we are very pleased to come out with a tie.”
Bradford is idle until Jan. 20 when they visit Clearfield.
