Bradford finners sweep Brookville

BROOKVILLE – The Bradford Owls’ swim team broke into the win
column with a 91-63 victory over Brookville on Monday night.

It was the first win for the Owls’ swim team since the 2003-04
season, according to Bradford coach Pam Digel.

“I couldn’t be happier for them,” Digel said. “We have such a
young group. We spread them as thin as we could tonight. They
really pulled together and performed as a team.”

Alex Goodman (200 free, 100 free, 200 free relay, 400 free
relay) and Ben Daggett (200 medley relay, 500 free, 100 back, 400
free relay) quadrupled for the Owls (1-3).

Additionally, Josh Lightner (200 IM, 200 medley relay, 200 free
relay), Matt Anderson (200 medley relay, 400 free relay, 100
breast) and Dan Gonzalez (200 medley relay, 100 fly, 200 free
relay) tripled for the Owls.

“The biggest thing we learned is we were in much better
condition than the other team,” Digel noted. “We had very important
performances from Vince Pascarella, Josh Lightner, Matt Anderson,
Steve Cavagnaro, Dan Gonzalez and Matt Schwab.”

In the girls’ meet, the Lady Owls (2-2) defeated Brookville
124-51.

Katie Slavinski (200 medley relay, 200 IM, 200 free relay, 400
free relay) and Ellie Imhof (200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 500
free, 400 free relay) sparked Bradford with quadruples. In
addition, Celia Reiley (200 free relay, 400 free relay, 100 free)
and Erica Pascarella (200 medley relay, 50 free, 200 free relay)
tripled.

“We were happy to keep the ball rolling,” Digel emphasized.
“This is the third strong meet in a row. It was a very good sign to
see continued improvement. We swam the girls in some different
events to try to give them some variety.

“Whenever we do that we always learn something about some
individuals who help out in our team lineup down the road. We are
happy with what we saw from Kate Cohen, Bethany Russell and Katie
Slavinski.”

Bradford hosts St. Marys on Thursday.
