Lady Panthers win in overtime

Michelle Kushner scored 19 points as Pitt-Bradford registered a
67-62 overtime win over Penn State Altoona in Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference women’s action at the Sport & Fitness
Center on Saturday.

Kushner, who is a 5-2 freshman from McKees Rocks, was 10-for-14
from the foul line as the Lady Panthers improved to 4-7 overall and
2-2 in the AMCC.

Pitt-Bradford led 19-18 at the end of a lethargic first half and
then enjoyed a pair of eight-point leads in the second half before
the Lady Lions rallied to force a 55-all deadlock at the end of
regulation.

Kushner then scored eight points and Rose Wilken added four more
in the overtime for Pitt-Bradford.

Tai Brown and Rachel Smith had 11 points apiece, Amanda Williams
registered 10 points and Megan Richards grabbed 10 rebounds for the
Lady Panthers.

Brittany Poorman had 15 points and Kirstin Twardon added 14
points for Altoona (2-7, 1-2).

“It was a gutsy win for us,” said Dalyannn Fuller, Pitt-Bradford
head coach. “We won this game playing solid defense as we caused
several shot clock violations, five-second calls, forced bad shots
and we rebounded well (55). We need to improve on our free throw
shooting (22-for-40). If we would’ve knocked down our free throws,
it would not have been a close game.”

The Lady Panthers are idle until Saturday when they travel to
Penn State Behrend (6 p.m.).
