Lady Owls defeat Lady Bisons

After starting out 2-0, Bradford High then dropped four straight
on the way to a 2-6 record.

With Friday’s 59-46 victory over Clearfield, the Lady Owls have
since won four straight, have clawed their way back to .500 at 6-6
and are sitting in fourth place in the District 9 League
standings.

Another solid team effort from BHS paved the way to the win.

Liz Keller led three players in double figures with a game-high
19 points, Shelly Fuhrman tallied 17 points and Nikki Siffrinn
registered a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds from her
point guard position.

Siffrinn also handed out four assists, while Whitney Cline
collected nine points, 11 rebounds and five steals.

“Keller played really well,” Lloyd emphasized. “She played good
defense and shot the ball well. She also went 4-for-4 from the line
and hit a three in the fourth and that really helped. She played a
nice game.

“Shelly shot the ball well. Cline had her usual game, just one
point shy of a double-double and Siffrinn’s 13 rebounds really
helped and she controlled the ball really well.”

Lloyd also praised the play of Meghan Perschke.

“Meghan played a nice game,” Lloyd said. “She was in there
battling hard.

“We had great balance and that’s good to see,” Lloyd said of the
win. “It was a great team effort and a good win for us.”

The Lady Owls committed only 14 turnovers in the contest and
shot 33 percent from the floor (20-for-61).

“We were able to hold the ball for three minutes in the fourth
quarter,” Lloyd recalled. “To be able to take that off the clock
and hit some free throws – that’s frustrating for (Clearfield).

“Clearfield hustled all over the floor. We’d get up by 10 or 12
points and they would battle back. They played a nice game.”

Bradford High, now 2-3 in league play, is back in action Monday
hosting DuBois Central Catholic.
