Ellie Imhof quadrupled and three other Bradford High swimmers
tripled as the Lady Owls beat DuBois 115-55 on Thursday.
Imhof won the 200 IM and 100 back and was on the 200 free relay
and 400 free relay. Celia Reiley (100 free, 200 free relay, 400
free relay), Katie Slavinski (50 free, 100 fly, 200 free relay) and
Libby Cavagnaro (200 free, 200 free relay, 400 free relay) tripled
for the Lady Owls (1-2).
Erica Pascarella (500 free, 400 free relay) doubled.
“I was very happy for the girls as they opened the second half
of the season with a big league victory,” BAHS coach Pam Digel
said. “Our last meet (at Meadville on Dec. 19) was very close. We
went into our vacation practices knowing we were almost there and
knowing what it was going to take to put us over the top. The kids
worked very hard. We did a lot of yardage as well as technique
work. It definitely paid off.
“Not only were we thrilled to get the first-place finishes
throughout the roster, but we had great time drops (Janie Reiley
freestyles, Elizabeth Putnam, Kaitlyn Nelson) and even found a
couple kids (Heather Vickery butterfly, Leslie Shallop) stepping up
in new events tonight.”
In the boys meet, DuBois was an 85-64 winner over the Owls
(0-3).
Alex Goodman doubled, winning the 50 free and 100 free.
“Similar to the girls, the boys stepped up tonight,” Digel
remarked. “A 21-point difference in the scoring can change very
quickly. We are already looking at our lineup for a couple weeks
from now when we travel to DuBois to accept the challenge they laid
out tonight.
“The boys worked very hard over break. Our younger swimmers have
learned with our first couple of meets what a team sport this can
be and how much they need to step up for each other.
“We had wonderful time improvements from Vince Pascarella and
Dan Gonzalez and swimmers such as Josh Lightner and Matt Anderson
are starting to offer us a lot of variety in the stroke
events.”
Bradford’s girls compete at the North East Invitational on
Saturday.
