OLEAN, N.Y. – Smethport High School dominated the fourth annual
Olean High/Big 30 Wrestling Classic on Friday.

The Hubbers put seven matmen in the finals in tallying 201 1/2
first-place points in the 15-team event.

Winning titles for Smethport were Dan Blair (103 pounds),
Jon-Marc Burdick (119), Josh Switzer (140) and Ben Hahn (152).

Blair improved to 12-0, Burdick 12-1, Switzer 9-3 and Hahn
13-1.

Placing second for Smethport were Tim Hubbard (112), Kevin Smith
(130) and John Phillips (189).

It was the second title of the week for Smethport (8-0). On
Tuesday, they won the Youngsville Tournament.

Other area wrestlers winning titles were Cameron County’s Paul
Baker (189) and Chris Haines (275). Cameron’s Chad Schatz was
second at 215 pounds.

Coudersport’s Kody Frederick won the 171-pound title and Joe
Cumby won the 130-pound title.

Oswayo Valley’s Trent Filer (145) and Zeke Drake (160) also
earned titles.

Filer was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler after recording
two pins.

Bradford High’s Tim Keane placed fourth at 145, Adam Priest was
fourth at 215 and Ryan Mongillo fourth at 275. Alan Soto was sixth
at 140.
