Paige Elkin poured in 31 points to spark Brookville to a 44-41
win over Bradford in a District 9 League girls basketball game
Wednesday.
Whitney Cline (14 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks) and Shelly
Fuhrman (10 points) led the Lady Owls, who have lost seven
straight. Nikki Siffrinn had six assists and three steals to go
with her eight tallies.
“Elkin shot real well,” Bradford coach Doug Lloyd said. “She
played a heck of a game. We couldn’t stop her.
“Brookville played a great second half outscoring us 31-22. We
came out flat in the second half.”
Bradford shot 34 percent from the field (16-for-47).
“We have to find a way to come out of the locker room with a
little more intensity,” Lloyd pointed out. “The second half has to
be a better half for us.”
Brookville had 16 offensive rebounds “which really hurts,” Lloyd
added.
The Lady Owls committed 15 turnovers in falling to 2-7.
Bradford plays Smethport in the first round of the Port Allegany
Tournament on Monday (3 p.m.).
