Round the Square for Dec. 5

CITY LIMITS: A project today for RTS
readers.[neWLine]

We hear from Rosanne Conaway of Bradford, a member of the Class
of 1954 Reunion Committee:[neWLine]

“”The combined 1954 classes of Bradford High and St.
Bernard have for many years jointly celebrated their five-year
class reunions. It has been a tradition at these reunions to
present a gift to our hometown. For example, at one reunion, a
symbolic gift of $1,954 was given to the new public library. At the
50th class reunion held in August 2004, the class purchased a seat
at the new Bromeley Family Theater, Pitt campus. This was the only
high school class to do so.

“”In August 2006, the combined classes will hold a ’70th
birthday’ celebration during Italian Festival weekend. On that
occasion, as a birthday present to the town, we would like to
present to the Landmark Society a complete bound set of that
wonderful Bradford publication of many years ago, ‘City
Limits.'[neWLine]

“”Over the past few months, through research at Landmark, the
public library and the Hanley Library archives, we have managed to
obtain all of the ‘City Limits’ issues except for five, which are
1948 – February, September, October and November; and for 1949, the
December issue.[neWLine]

“”We would very much appreciate the Era’s help in locating these
missing issues. Is this a project for Round the
Square?[neWLine]

So now is the time to dig into those old bins and boxes
in the attic to try to find one of those five issues. And, of
course, we’ll go through our files, too.

OH, ZIPPO: Wow, we haven’t had one of these in awhile …
Bonnie Fuller of Kane writes, “”Zippo sighting in the Penn Brewery
newsletter. They have items for sale on their website
(www.pennbrew.com), including Zippos. No need to say lighters, just
the name tells it!

TODAY’S QUOTE: “”People that read tabloids
deserve to be lied to,”” said comedian Jerry Seinfeld, 1997. As
always, today’s quote is from our Freedom Forum calendar, dedicated
