CLARION – A Bradford couple were killed after their car went out
of control on snow-covered roads and hit a tractor-trailer truck
head-on while traveling on Route 66, just north of Madden Drive in
Knox Township, Clarion County.
According to Clarion-based state police, at 5:05 a.m., a car
driven by Thomas D. Gangloff, 67, was southbound on Route 66 when
it went out of control on the snow-covered road. The car then
traveled across the southbound lane and into the northbound lane
where it hit a tractor-trailer driven by Edward M. Heeter Jr., 37,
in the front bumper.
Gangloff and his wife, Patricia R. Gangloff, 65, a passenger in
the car, were pronounced dead at the scene by Clarion County
Coroner Rolly Burns.
All occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts, police
said.
Police said the car sustained major damage, and the
tractor-trailer had moderate damage. Both the car and
tractor-trailer were towed from the scene.
The Clarion Hospital EMS and Shippenville/Elk Township Fire
Department responded to the scene.
