GEREE STARR: A Bradford woman who performed at quite a few
musical venues in and around the area is about to release her first
CD, “Twinkle Lucky Star.”

And, appropriately, her name is Geree Starr.

Please insert photo here.

Geree Starr, who now lives in Lakewood, Calif., tells us she’ll
be remembered in Bradford not just as a singer but left-handed
guitar player. She had worked with Bill Winn at WESB and also at a
Kane radio station, and even had her own show on WPHB,
Phillipsburg. She also worked the Bob Flowers radio show every
Saturday in Cuba, N.Y.

“When I signed to appear at WWVA, Wheeling, W. Va., The Bradford
Era did a story on me,” she writes. “I was the MC for many numbers
of Children’s Christmas programs in Bradford at the Moose Club
(also sang there with my band!).

“I believe I’ve played every club and bar in Bradford, even back
at 14 years old at the Emery Hotel. I appeared at the Holiday Inn
there, Holley Hotel and on many radio shows. I worked with the
Allen Brothers at the Brook Club in Bradford.”

“I have traveled from Canada to Florida while still living in
Bradford!”

Currently, she performs at Ricky Gene’s Blues Club singing the
blues, jazz and country blues. She does many Billie Holiday songs.
In addition, she has made singing appearances at Los Alamitos
Vessels Club at the horse race track, and is also appearing at
Boomers Blues Club in Lakewood.

Geree tells us she’s not just a singer and guitar players but
also a composer. For her new CD, she is writing most of the songs
but it will start with 1945’s “Cry” by Johnny Ray.

Her production company is Bowe Music Productions, and manager
and “sidekick” is Hoopa Johnny, who also just released his new
blues CD “Behind the Breakers.”
