Fire in Kane

KANE – No one was hurt, but a restaurant was destroyed, in a
4:30 a.m. fire Saturday at 314 Chase St., Kane.

The Kane Volunteer Fire Department responded to the fire at Papa
Nick’s Restaurant. The building, owned by W. Nicolazzo, was a total
loss, and what remained of the building was demolished with a
backhoe, according to Kane Volunteer Fire Chief Jim Huckabone.

Huckabone said the cause of the fire will likely remain
undetermined since the building was a total loss.

Nicolazzo along with three other family members, were occupants
of the building, but everyone was able to get out before the fire
destroyed it, Huckabone said.

According to Huckabone, about 100 firefighters responded from 14
other departments, including the Ludlow, Sheffield, Mount Jewett,
Wilcox, Johnsonburg, Ridgway, Crystal Fire (St. Marys), Hamlin
Township, Smethport, Bradford City, Lafayette Township, and the
Clarendon Volunteer, James City and Cherry Grove of Warren
County.

Huckabone said firefighters were on scene until 6 p.m.
