Bradford High fought back from a 1-1 deadlock to collect a 3-1
Senior Night victory over Sheffield in girls volleyball action
Tuesday.
The Lady Owls defeated Sheffield 25-14, 16-25, 25-11, 25-14.
Bradford was led by Brittany Holsinger (10 digs, 3 aces, 5
points), Jenn Hilmes (6 digs), Erin Hannon (14 blocks, 5 digs, 10
points, 9 kills), Rachel Garges (5 digs, 6 points, 4 kills),
Caitlin Persichini (4 digs, 14 assists, 3 points) and Lexie Goble
(12 digs, 10 points, 7 kills).
“We came out all fired up and played great the first game, we
were all over the floor,” declared Judy Abbey, BHS coach.
“Erin (Hannon) and Lexie (Goble) played really well at the net
and Caitlin (Persichini) had some great sets for them (Hannon and
Goble).
“In the second game we came out with low to no intensity – we
just didn’t have it and it showed,” Abbey continued. “Then in the
third and fourth game Erin and Lexie showed more great play at the
net and Brittany (Holsinger) also played exceptionally well.
“It was Senior Night and my three seniors – Erin, Brittany and
Jenn (Hilmes) played really well through all the games.”
The Lady Owls, 10-8, are on the road against Kane on
Thursday.
“Thursday will be an interesting rematch at Kane,” Abbey
commented. “I’m looking forward to it.”
