Two vacant homes burned to the ground in a Saturday morning fire
at 76 and 78 South Ave. Officials suspect the fire was the result
of arson.
According to a member of the Bradford City Fire Department, at
2:48 a.m., a building at 76 South Ave., was fully involved when
firefighters arrived on the scene. The fire then spread to a second
building at 78 South Ave.
The spokesperson said both houses were vacant and a total loss.
Firefighters did protect a nearby house, according to the fire
department member, and the owners of the vacant buildings were
unknown.
Firefighters were on the scene for 3 1/2 hours. Responding to
the fire were 16 firefighters, and Tower 1, engines 1 and 2, the
city ambulance and the chief’s car.
There were no injuries, and the cause of the fire is still under
investigation.
