Bradford High picked up a Senior Night 3-0 shutout of Ridgway in
girls soccer action Tuesday.
Lindsay Sherman scored all three Bradford goals on assists from
Megan Little, Chelsea Rinfrette and Whitney Cline.
“Lindsay Sherman made sure it was a great match for our
seniors,” exclaimed Tony Doriguzzi, Bradford head coach. “She was
relentless tonight, taking eight shots and scoring three goals.
Game after game, Lindsay gives everything she has for her
team.”
Preserving the shutout in goal for the Lady Owls were Hope
Ruffner and Steph Lyons with four combined saves.
“It was senior recognition night and our seniors really shined,”
Doriguzzi declared. “Hope Ruffner had another fine game in goal and
came out to make numerous smart plays on the ball.
“Dana Carrico turned in a great defensive performance. She has
kept us in many games this season.
“Libby Cavagnaro and Steph Lyons did a tremendous job of
supporting the attack.” Doriguzzi continued. “I was really
impressed with first-year player Alyssa Tallentire. She has come a
long way this season.”
In goal for the Lady Elkers, Mary Buehler was in goal with 21
saves.
“Buehler played a nice game between the pipes,” Doriguzzi
offered. “She denied 21 of our shots. That’s a lot of work for a
keeper.”
The Lady Owls close the regular season at 11-7-1. They are idle
until the District 9 playoffs begin at a site, time and day to be
announced.
“At the beginning of the year I told the girls that one of my
goals for this team was to improve on last year’s record of 6-9-1
and they have definitely met and surpassed my expectations,”
Doriguzzi concluded. “These ladies have worked extremely hard this
year and we are proud of all they have accomplished.
“I don’t think we would be at this level we are today without
the leadership of assistant coach Joe Doriguzzi. He has been a
phenomenal addition to this program.”
