VFW moving to new building

The Bradford Veterans of Foreign Wars club will be moving to a
new building.

Bradford businessman Mike Langianese – owner of City Beers on
West Washington Street, which recently bought out Gleason
Distributing Co. on Barbour Street – confirmed Friday the VFW is
moving into the former beer and alcohol drive-through/delivery
building at 94 Barbour St.

Langianese said he was “removed from the project,” but said he
knew the VFW had secured that building from its former owner,
Richard Gleason. He explained that when he bought out Gleason’s
business, the Barbour Street building was “part of the deal,” but
added he opted not to use it for his own business.

Instead, Langianese said he helped Gleason find someone that
would have a use for the building. Once the VFW made contact with
Gleason, Langianese stepped out of the picture.

“I was actually in possession of that building a very, very
short time,” he said.

Karen Gleason, the wife of Richard Gleason, said in his absence
Friday they had heard the VFW was looking for a place to relocate
to and heard later “by word of mouth” that they might be interested
in their old building.

She said she knew the VFW planned on remodeling the inside of
the building, but was unsure as to a timeframe for when
construction would start or how long it would take.

Gleason then referred further questions to the VFW, which is
currently located at 153 Main St.

Commander and manager of the VFW, Darrell Bigley, had no comment
on the move Sunday night.
