Owls top Kane, Ridgway to stay unbeaten

KANE – The Bradford Owls improved their cross country record to
7-0 with wins over Kane 15-50 and Ridgway 17-44 Tuesday.

Kane defeated Ridgway 25-31.

Steve Kirkland, Jared Feura and Ben Moran led the Owls, taking
the first three places.

“Steve and Jared really pushed the pace and ran excellent times,
17:24 and 17:27, respectively, on the 3.1-mile layout,” Bradford
coach Tom Tessena said. “Ben Moran ran a strong race to finish
third in 18:13.”

Moran earned the Fuhrman Chiropractic Runner of the Week
award.

Ridgway’s Cody Luchs took fourth in 18:15, just ahead of
Bradford’s Anthony Cavallaro and Colton Langianese who were fifth
and sixth.

“Anthony and Colton also ran pretty good times of 18:18 and
18:19,” Tessena added.

Ridgway’s Derek Konen was seventh in 18:22. Bradford’s Mike
Foerstner and Shroy Mukerjee grabbed the eighth and ninth positions
while Kane’s Cameron Moran was 10th in 18:50.

Other Bradford runners were Rich Bartlebaugh who placed 11th in
18:56, Jarret Clarke 13th in 19:20, Patrick Perschke 14th in 19:34,
John Karrasch 18th in 21:08 and Ben Pfeil 19th in 21:12.

“Rich ran well and the other guys did well today,” Tessena
declared. “There were 37 runners in the race and it was kind of
warm but I thought all our guys did a good job. They pushed
themselves through the whole race after a pretty good workout
Monday.

“If we continue to work hard we can only improve and that is
what we are trying to do.”

Bradford will run at the D-9/Ridgway Invitational on
Saturday.

“We are looking for a real strong showing there,” the coach
admitted.

In middle school action, Matthew and Michael White finished
one-two in excellent times of 9:08 and 9:09 on the 1.57-mile
course, according to Tessena.

“These guys just keep getting better each week,” Tessena
declared. “Bradford swept the top five places with Adam Barnes
taking third in 9:43, Corey Little finishing fourth in 9:49 and
Evan Feura capturing fifth in 9:53.

Other Fretz runners were Zach Acton who took seventh in 10:08
and James Karrasch who placed 14th in 11:41.

The Falcons are 4-0 and have won three invitationals.

“It’s rare when you can say all our runners did well but this
was one of those days,” Tessena concluded.
