Lady Owls race by St. Marys

Paige Ambrose sprinted to a first-place finish leading Bradford
(4-1) to a 15-47 win over St. Marys in a high school cross country
meet Tuesday.

Ambrose ran the course in 21:52 as the Lady Owls took the top
five places.

“Paige is finally feeling better and her time improved,” BAHS
coach Bob Macfarlane said. “Paige is vital to our team’s
success.”

Erica Pascarella 2nd (22:06), Renee Cavallaro 3rd (22:23) and
Liz Keller 4th (22:38) also keyed the winners.

“These girls’ attitudes have been great,” the coach emphasized.
“They expect to do well at the meets, then they go out and prove
it. They have been like a machine, just producing meet after
meet.

“The top four girls packed well tonight, only 46 seconds
separating the four. They ran a smart race, going out hard the
first mile to get a lead, then pushing each other to get a good
time on the course.”

Taking the 5th position was freshman Kara Holsinger with a time
of 23:31.

“Kara has been improving every meet,” Macfarlane noted. “Tonight
she showed the team that she’s not a afraid to go after another
team’s top runner.”

Megan Foster 7th (23:49), Ellie Imhof 9th (24:50), Kevryn Boser
12th (26:13), Shannon Taylor (26:16) and Olivia Goble (26:22) also
led the Lady Owls.

“All the girls looked relaxed and confident throughout the
race,” the coach remarked. “Their conditioning is paying off as
they are all getting stronger as the season progresses. I can’t be
any more pleased with the way all the girls handled this meet.

“They were very focused. They went out and did their race plan
with no questions asked. They are determined to improve with each
race.”

Bradford’s next meet is next Tuesday at Kane.
