Bradford pulled out a close, three-game 25-20, 28-26, 29-27 win
over Kane in high school girls volleyball Tuesday.
“This was the best match we’ve played all season,” enthused Judy
Abbey, BHS head coach. “It was a good team effort all the way
around. We played very well defensively.
“Kane is a solid team. Coach Kessler has them going in the right
direction all the time,” Abbey remarked. “We had to play some good
defense. They have some big hitters up front and we had some good
digs to stop them.”
Leading the Lady Owls were Brittany Holsinger (7 digs, 2 points,
2 kills), Jenn Hilmes (7 digs), Erin Hannon (8 digs, 3 aces, 15
points, 9 kills), Rachel Garges (6 digs), Kaitlin Persichini (17
assists, 5 points), Lexie Goble (4 aces, 12 points, 7 kills) and
Katlyn Nelson (4 digs, 7 points, 6 kills).
“My seven players had their best games of the season,” Abbey
declared. “Hannon, Nelson and Goble played well on the net,
Holsinger had her best overall game of the season with excellent
serving and defensive play. Persichini continues to do extremely
well setting the ball for the big hitters. Garges played an
excellent match. Hilmes did well in the cover position.”
Bradford (5-3) is on the road against DuBois on Thursday.
In the junior varsity match, Bradford defeated Kane 25-23,
25-17.
