House fire in Bradford

No injuries were reported in a house fire at 8:34 p.m. Saturday
at 319 Congress St.

According to a spokesperson with the Bradford City Fire
Department, the fire happened accidentally when Kelley Stone, owner
and resident of the house, put out a grease fire with some paper
towels.

The spokesperson said the paper towels were then thrown away,
and the fire began when the towels, that were not put out entirely,
caught the garbage on fire.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the first floor of
the house, which was severely damaged. Firefighters were on scene
for two hours and 15 minutes, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said Stone and her three children were not in
the house when it caught fire.

Tower 1, Engine 1, two ambulances, the chief’s car and 10
firefighters responded to the blaze.
