The Marching Owls Boosters 26th annual Autumn Classic held
Saturday at Parkway Field was another successful event, reported
Kathy Thumpston, Marching Owls band director, on Sunday.
In Class A competition, there was a tie for first place between
Seneca, from Wattsburg; and Girard. Third place went to Kane; while
Coudersport took fourth; Elk County Catholic took fifth; and sixth
place went to Sheffield.
In Class AA, Cochranton captured first place; while Fairview
took second; Maplewood of Guys Mills took third; Brockway captured
fourth; and Otto-Eldred took fifth place.
In Class AAA, Youngsville took first place, while Erie All-City
captured second.
In the open class, General McLane of Edinboro won first place
while Iroquois of Erie took second place.
Bradford, as the host band, was not eligible to compete, and was
an exhibition band, as were Port Allegany and Cameron County. The
guest band was from the University of Buffalo (N.Y.).
This year’s Bradford High show featured the music of Chuck
Mangione.
All told, 19 bands, including the exhibitions, performed during
the event, Thumpston said.
“I congratulate the boosters on a successful event,” Thumpston
said. “It takes a lot of hands to coordinate it and it went off
without a hitch. And the weather turned out to be good.”
