PORTVILLE, N.Y. – Bradford High’s 2-1 triumph knocked Portville
out of contention in the first round of its own girls soccer
tournament Thursday.
Lindsay Sherman continued her solid play, scoring both goals for
the Lady Owls on assists from Tricia Copeland and Britani
VanScoter.
Hope Ruffner made 16 saves between the pipes for the
winners.
“Hope had a phenomenal game tonight,” enthused Tony Doriguzzi,
BHS head coach. “She played her best game of the season. She really
kept us in the match.
“Portville is a great team and this was a huge win for us. I’m
very excited.”
The win puts the Lady Owls at 7-3 on the year. They are back in
action, again at the Portville Tournament, on Saturday against
Genesee Valley.
In the JV game, Genesee Valley was a 5-2 winner over Bradford.
Bradford got goals from Brianne Gleason and VanScoter. Nicole Shine
earned 10 stops in goal.
