Given time to recover a bit from playing four games in five
days, Bradford High’s volleyball team responded with a 25-10,
25-19, 25-13 victory over Brockway on Tuesday.
Powering the winners were Brittany Holsinger (4 points, 4
kills), Jenn Hilmes (7 digs), Erin Hannon (4 digs, 6 aces, 9
points), Rachel Garges (3 digs, 5 aces, 6 points), Caitlin
Persichini (14 assists), Lexie Goble (2 aces, 5 points, 3 kills),
Katlyn Nelson (11 aces, 15 points, 4 kills), Nicole Keane (3 digs,
3 aces, 3 points) and Katie Vecellio (2 digs, 1 ace, 1 point).
“Caitlin Persichini was on with her assists,” Bradford coach
Judy Abbey said. “We had good backline play from Jenn Hilmes and
Brittany Holsinger and we had good frontline play from Erin Hannon,
Lexie Goble and Katlyn Nelson.
“It was a good chance to put some of our younger kids in the
match,” Abbey continued. “We have some young kids that we are
trying to get in.”
The Lady Owls amassed 28 aces in the match.
“That’s a lot of aces,” Abbey observed. “Katlyn Nelson had 11
aces – that’s pretty impressive.
“It was a good team effort. We covered much better. We got a lot
of points from our service.”
The Lady Owls, back above .500 at 4-3, are on the road against
Sheffield on Thursday.
In the junior varsity game, Bradford was a 26-24, 25-15 victor
over the Lady Rovers.
