BHS soccer girls extend unbeaten mark

BROOKVILLE – Bradford High ran its unbeaten record to 5-0
Tuesday with an 8-4 victory over previously unbeaten Brookville in
high school girls soccer Tuesday.

Lindsay Sherman powered the victory with four goals – three in
the first half.

“Sophomore Lindsay Sherman put on a show today,” said Tony
Doriguzzi, BHS head coach. “She scored four goals in a row – it was
a wonderful performance.”

Also scoring for the winners were Steph Lyons, Meagan Little,
Katie White and Kayla Murphey.

Earning assists for the Lady Owls were Libby Cavagnaro (four)
and Murphey.

“Libby Cavagnaro just kept making things happen tonight,”
Doriguzzi offered. “She had four assists to four different people.
It was a phenomenal effort on her part.”

Hope Ruffner was in goal for the Lady Owls, earning 17
saves.

Khira Gadley made 10 saves minding the net for the Lady Raiders
(4-1).

“We scored a goal within the first five minutes, and the next
two came within 11 minutes,” Doriguzzi recalled. “We were playing
strong right from the beginning.

“Brookville scored two goals late in the second half and then
one right after the kickoff for the second half. It really put
pressure on us, but the girls responded by scoring four more
goals.

“This was Brookville’s first loss. They are a quality team and
this was a big win for us.”

In the junior varsity game, Brookville defeated Bradford 1-0.
Nichole Shine picked up seven saves in goal.

Bradford is back in action Thursday hosting Clearfield.
