OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) — St. Bonaventure has landed the son of former major league infielder Dave Hollins.
Baseball coach Larry Sudbrook announced Thursday that David Hollins has signed a national letter of intent to join the Bonnies next season. Hollins is currently in his second season playing for St. Petersburg Junior College in Florida, where he’s batting .345 with nine home runs and 32 RBIs this spring.
Like his father, Hollins plays infield and is also from Orchard Park, New York. Nicknamed ‘Bubba,’ Hollins was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 35th round of the 2014 entry draft.
Hollins’ father played 12 seasons in the majors, beginning in 1990 with Philadelphia, where he earned an All-Star selection in 1993.
