Just before 4:30 p.m. Friday, multiple calls were made to the McKean County 911 Center regarding a fully-involved structure fire at Rain or Schine Towing on South Kendall Avenue.

Heavy smoke and flames were showing, according to a Foster Township Police officer who was on the scene as calls were still coming in. Reports indicated several explosions could be heard as well.

Fire departments from Rew, Derrick City, Bradford Township, Otto Township, Derrick City, Smethport, Lewis Run, Hilltop and Eldred Township were called to the scene, several of which were dispatched to bring tankers to help fight the blaze.

At 4:32 p.m., a call was made to shut down South Kendall Avenue in both directions.

The towing company is located between Lafferty Hollow and the Crosby Mini Mart on the upper side of the road. Across from it is a large open field.

Penelec has been called to the scene, and told to arrive as soon as possible.

Derrick City Police Chief James Kelley reported signs of collapse at 4:50 p.m.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
