McKean County Commissioners approve funds for new computer storage project

SMETHPORT — The McKean County Commissioners approved the requisition for $52,370.10 from the county’s information technology staff Tuesday for a new computer storage project that will replace the current one for which manufacturer support is scheduled to expire on December 31.

This is the most cost-effective system because of its potential for future use, according to the IT personnel. The county’s files and applications from all departments will then have to be transferred to the new system.

Commissioners also approved the redistribution of Bradford Township’s Community Development Block Grant funds from the Spot Demolition Account to the Administrative Account.

According to the resolution, the county’s 2015 CDBG allocation includes $10,000 for this demolition program, but since there are no demolitions planned now, there is an unexpected balance of $1,357.94. Additionally, this CDBG contract also allocated $8,033 to township administration.

This change in use of the CDBG grant money would lower the township’s spot demolition program by $1,357.94 for a revised amount of $8,642.06 and increase the township administration to a new amount of $9,390.94.

Also gaining approval was a request from the Children’s Advocacy Center of McKean County for the purchase of the annual warranty for the agency’s iREcord System for $2,697.45. Renewing the contract yearly ensures all software upgrades and regular maintenance are managed appropriately.

Commissioners granted a tax-exempt request from the Bradford Sanity Authority for a .07-acre parcel at 64 South Avenue.

The county will submit a multimodal grant application seeking funds for repairing the sidewalks adjacent to the courthouse on West King Street to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act requirements and move the fire hydrants across the street.

County planning director Jeremy Morey, who will write the application for this competitive grant from the Commonwealth Financing Authority in the Department of Community and Economic Development, said he has been working closely with county maintenance director Ed Tronetti, who recommended these changes that will also divert water away from the wall in back of the courthouse to existing catch basins.

Two County Aid requests were OK’d. Norwich Township will purchase anti-skid materials with its $2,759, while the $8,773 for Liberty Township is slated for grinding and profiling Pine Grove and Lower Grime Roads.

The Area Transportation Authority’s invoice for $20,920 that represents a portion of their allotment from July 1, 2019, to September 31, 2019, was approved.

The county will enter a lease agreement extension with Lanie Properties, LLC, for office space occupied by the Magisterial District Judge at 22 Davis Street. in Bradford. For the first 30 months, the rental will be $2,058.33 monthly; for months 31-66, the monthly rate is to be $1,826.50.

In personnel matters, four members were appointed to the Board of Directors of the Department of Human Services. They are Jenny Greenman, supervisor, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services; Brian Larson, director, Journey Health System; Jayne Peterson, director, The Guidance Center; and County Commissioner Cliff Lane.

Also, County Commissioner Thomas Kreiner was named to the Full Board of Directors of the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission.

The county commissioners will meet again at 10 a. m., August 13.
