ST. MARYS — The Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole Family Fund held at the Elk County Community Foundation announced its quarterly granting cycle applications are now available to area non-profit organizations.
The Community Foundation welcomes applications from local non-profits for project funding. Applications will be accepted until Oct. 17 and are available by calling the Community Foundation’s office at 834-2125 or via its website at www.elkcountyfoundation.com.
The goal of the Stackpole Family Advisors is to continue to support the philanthropic causes that were important to both Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole.
It is Harrison Stackpole’s personal involvement and his long commitment to the communities in Elk County that his family and friends hoped to continue to benefit and support. They balance their grant distributions while keeping in the charitable interest of Muriel Dauer Stackpole, who was a very complex woman with diversified interests. She gave both her time and money to benefit and enhance the quality of life in St. Marys. Her interests ranged from education of handicapped children and care of the elderly, to her church and the arts.
The Community Foundation encourages organizations that will serve a particular need of the community and will make a lasting impact on the overall community to apply.
The advisors seeks to fund projects or activities that will serve the needs of many in the community rather than the needs of a few individuals. Projects should include activities that are innovative and have a plan to be sustained themselves. In addition, grants are made to support programs serving all persons regardless of race, religion or creed and are made only to tax-exempt, charitable organizations.
Organizations that feel they meet the above criteria are invited to submit their application to the Harrison and Muriel Dauer Stackpole Family Fund through the Community Foundation.
