SMETHPORT — As a way of saying “thank you” to local essential employees who have spent countless hours on the job during the COVID-19 pandemic, and at the same time supporting local businesses, the Smethport Rotary Club presented 265 $10 gift cards to law enforcement and nursing home workers Friday morning.

Gift cards were purchased at The Corner Bistro, Hubber Café, Fox’s Pizza, Valley Inn, Myrna’s and the Smethport Drive-In, known locally as “The Tastee Freeze.” The following organizations also made contributions: Sons of the American Legion Post #138, VFW Post #2497, VFW Auxiliary Post #2497, American Legion Riders, Post #976 and American Legion Post #976.

Rotarians paid special thanks to Marian Bush of the Smethport Drive-In who, when asked to support this project, purchased 25 gift cards.
