The United Way of the Bradford Area Inc. has announced Sarah Lonzi has been named the new executive director of the organization. Lonzi succeeds Paige LaBrozzi, who resigned earlier this year.
Lonzi most recently served as the administrative assistant for the organization and brings a unique understanding of the role the UWBA plays in addressing the most pressing needs of the community.
“The UWBA board of directors is pleased to announce this appointment,” said Karen Costello-Pecht, UWBA board president. “Sarah’s performance in her previous role as the
UWBA administrative assistant has been exceptional and she has exceeded the board’s expectations in her performance of duties and responsibilities. Her leadership, energy and creativity along with her deep sense of commitment to our community are qualities Sarah possesses and we are confident she will do an outstanding job serving as our executive director.”
Lonzi is a Bradford native and holds a bachelor’s degree in sports medicine from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and a master of science in clinical health and physical activity. Lonzi assumed her new role on Tuesday.
“I am elated to have been granted this unparalleled opportunity and to be put into a position that is of extreme value,” Lonzi said. “Being able to help the community I was raised in and to bring education to its individuals of the needs of this area is of grave importance to me. This area has a unique way of coming together to help its own and I cannot be more proud to be a part of such a supportive community. Thank you to the board of directors as well as the supporters of the United Way. Without your support, the United Way would not be possible.”
The mission of the United Way of the Bradford Area is to raise and distribute funds for the purpose of community building and enhancing the quality of life in the areas it serves.
