Lewis Run native Jake DeCasper, who goes by JD Casper, has auditioned for the 20th season of The Voice. The show began airing Monday.
Casper is the son of Amy Breznik of Bradford and also has grandparents, Jim and Diane DeCasper and Irv Swartz, who live in the Lewis Run area.
Casper’s audition could air on March 8 or 9, 15 or the 22.
Residents are encouraged to tune in and root for Casper.
The Voice is a long-running competition with four coaches. This year’s coaches are Blake Shelton, Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Nick Jonas. Carson Daly hosts the show, which begins with blind auditions.
The performers are positioned behind the coaches, who listen to them without seeing them. They sit in chairs that rotate and hit a button to signify their interest if they feel the performer has potential to win the competition.
Performers who have a coach turn around for them advance to the next round of the competition: the Battle Rounds. If a performer has more than one coach show interest, they can choose the one they prefer to work with. The coaches also have the option to turn around for a performer and prevent another coach from showing interest in that performer (known as the Block).
The show continues with two additional rounds, the Knockouts followed by Live Performance Shows.
