A Kane man is in McKean County Jail for allegations he assaulted a woman and left a small child home alone.
William J. Greek Jr., 28, of 119 Poplar St., was arraigned Saturday before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of endangering the welfare of children, a third-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and summary harassment.
According to the criminal complaint, Lewis Run-based state police arrived in the emergency room at UPMC Kane at 3:03 a.m. Saturday after being dispatched there for a report of an assault victim. There, they saw the alleged victim, Greek’s girlfriend, had severe swelling and bruising on the left side of her face.
Troopers went to talk to Greek and found him at his mother’s house. He told police that the pair had gotten into an argument at the bar and he was just trying to get her home. His mother came to pick them up and took them to their residence, but they kept arguing and were pushing each other, court records indicated.
Greek’s girlfriend told police that, while they were in his mother’s car, Greek, who had been drinking alcohol, punched her multiple times in the face, and when they got home from the bar, he hit her a couple more times.
Greek’s mother told police that when she arrived at Greek’s residence, his son was there alone, the complaint stated. Greek’s mother took the 2-year-old boy to her home, according to officials.
Greek told police that his friend was supposed to be watching the boy, and when Greek called his friend, he told Greek he just left, the complaint indicated.
Greek is incarcerated in lieu of $20,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
