A Bradford woman accused in two cases of identity theft while working as a caregiver pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court.
Melinda S. Schoonover, 35, entered the plea in one case to charges of identity theft and obstructing administration of law or other governmental functions and in the other case to charges of identity theft and theft by deception.
According to Assistant District Attorney Ashley Shade, between Dec. 9 and Jan. 26, Schoonover, while employed as a caregiver for someone over age 60, used identifying information of that person such as the person’s name and account numbers to make purchases totaling approximately $3,900. Schoonover called the state police barracks impersonating the victim saying she did not want to have charges pursued.
Between Oct. 7 and April 14, also during her employment as a caregiver for someone over age 60, Schoonover opened credit accounts and made purchases of about $250 using the person’s identifying information, Shade explained.
Schoonover will be sentenced Oct. 8.
Also in court, Nathan S. Lineman, 49, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of simple assault. On May 19, Lineman grabbed the upper torso of the victim, causing red marks and bruising, District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said. He will be sentenced Oct. 8.
Elizabeth A. Tucker, 39, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of statement under penalty. According to Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy, on Nov. 23, 2018, Tucker made a written false statement on a state police application of sale form for firearms by indicating that she had not been charged with a crime that was punishable with imprisonment for more than one year. She will be sentenced Oct. 8.
Jabar M. Kasper, 22, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges in two cases: a charge of terroristic threats in one case and a charge of DUI-controlled substance and a summary charge in the second. Shaffer said that on June 27 in Bradford City, Kasper communicated a threat to commit a crime of violence. Also, Murphy said that on Feb. 2, Kasper drive under the influence of marijuana. He will be sentenced Oct. 8.
Christian C. Clark, 30, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving stolen property. According to Murphy, on April 25, 2019, Clark retained Yu-Gi-Oh! cards with a value of at least $300 that were not his. He will be sentenced Sept. 24.
Anthony P. Paul Jr., 45, of Niagara Falls, N.Y., pleaded guilty to charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and summary charge. He will be sentenced Oct. 8.
Accepted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program were Kayla D. Pakarski, 29, of Port Allegany, and Albert J. Frisina, 59, of Olean, N.Y., both for DUI-alcohol; and Jacob Mowry, 19, of Port Allegany, for possession of drug paraphernalia.
