Hidden Valley Wet – Again; Season Opener this coming week
CLEARFIELD – Mother Nature has played havoc with most tracks in Central Pa this spring, mostly on Friday nights, and once again, Hidden Valley Speedway fell victim to her wrath on Friday night, as the season opener was again washed away.
Dan Savino will try once again to get the best of the weather this coming Friday night, with the Karen Condon Memorial on tap for the Thunder Cars, paying $700 to the winner. Joining them for the Father’s Day Special event will be regular racing for the Semi Lates, Small Block Modifieds, Econo Lates, Pure Stocks and Four Cylinders. The Junior Four Cylinders are also on the card and will compete at intermission and the 600 Micro’s had also been added to the line up.
The Thunder Car Special will honor a great friend to the racing community, who died unexpectedly in 2021. Karen was a huge race fan who never missed a race, and she was an employee of Hidden Valley Speedway when she passed away. Her family hosts a memorial race in her honor each year. The trophies are being sponsored by Flat Run Speedway.
So far, with all of the rainouts, Karen’s son, Wes Condon, has been able to collect $325 in lap money. He is still looking for more lap sponsors, along with a sponsor for the Hard Charger Award and the Hard Luck Award. Contact him via private message if you can help out.
The Annual Shawn “Sheetz” McGarvey Memorial race for the Super Late Models has been rescheduled for July 4th. McGarvey was a Super Late Model driver who died unexpectedly in a work related accident in 2009. McGarvey was a multi-time feature winner and point champion at speedways throughout Central Pa. This race honors the man each year.
It will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start.
The pit gates will open at 5 p.m., spectator gates will open at 6 p.m. with the drivers meeting at 7 and racing at 7:30. Stay tuned to our Facebook page and our website at www.hiddenvalleyspeedway.net for more details.
