WARREN — Gary W. Stoops of Warren has been awarded for Expertise in Entrepreneurship by Marquis Who’s Who. Individuals are selected for this award on the basis of several factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in their field.

Stoops has dedicated nearly five decades to his professional career, currently serving as president of GMAZ Inc. His leadership and professional acumen have been instrumental in the company’s success.

Prior to his current role, he made a significant impact as the owner of a Dairy Queen franchise. Under his leadership, this business flourished, going from generating $180,000 annually to $1.5 million. This achievement exemplifies his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence.

In recognition of his contributions to small businesses, Stoops was honored with the Man of the Year award by the Chamber of Commerce in 2000.

Stoops grew up in Bradford. He has two stepchildren and children with his wife of 24 years.

Stoops is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, which he credits with laying a strong foundation for his professional career. He has also been published in the International Library of Poetry. His poem “Friends I’ve Never Met” is one of his more notable works.

Beyond his professional life, Stoops is actively involved in civic activities. His influence extends far beyond his financial success. Stoops also participates in a variety of charity endeavors including the Children’s Miracle Network. Throughout the years, he has impacted the lives of many young individuals who have worked under his guidance. Stoops takes pride in having taught them valuable skills and work ethics, which he said many students have acknowledged years later. He considers his legacy of mentorship to be one of the most rewarding aspects of community involvement.

Another charity close to Stoop’s heart is the Salvation Army. One Christmas, when there was substantial unemployment in the county, Stoops paid to give every member of the Salvation Army a full meal.

Looking ahead, Stoops aims to remain active in his community while continuing to support his family.
